More often than not you'll find me in my kitchen jamming to some chill jazz or rock with a bottle of red wine, hooking up something delicious. That's my happy place most days.
My daughter Maci is my best buddy, future business partner, and my biggest motivator. Being her dad really is the best thing ever.
We are constantly pursuing the next awesome recipe adventure, no matter where that takes us.
I cook it, she samples it, mostly. She can be a picky eater, but we're working on that.
I'm a retired military vet with three combat tours to Iraq.
But that all seems like a lifetime ago now.
It was a fun life full of adventure, and stress, lots of stress. I served as a door gunner on a UH-60 Black Hawk over the skies of Iraq. I've been part of security patrols on the ground, and a whole lot in between.
This is a new chapter though. I finally have the time to spend with Maci that I never did before. I've slowed down these days, as much as she will let me anyway.
We have a great life going out here, building up our homestead one project at a time. We're also video game geeks. RDR2 is our all time favorite. I'm also a huge Fallout fanboy too! Hmu on PlayStation: RexThunderman.
Regardless of what we do, we have a lot of laughs.
I don't possess a chef title, or any professional culinary experience. We have won a few chili cook-offs. I'm more of a cookery aficionado.
I put plenty of research, preparation, and heart into the dishes I pursue.
The majority of my recipes are cooked in cast iron. I love it, and my kitchen has evolved so much.
The entire process from seasoning new life into old pans people have written off, to hooking up amazing dishes is so rewarding.
We strive to eat as organic as possible, and every day I'm working to be more self-reliant on where my ingredients come from.
It is most definitely a work in progress.
This is where we'll share our stories and our journey, together with y'all.
