Making a great hard boiled egg should be too easy!
If you don’t know what you’re doing, it might end up undercooked, overcooked, or even just a pain to peel. Luckily, I’ve got it all figured out for you.
Start out by placing an egg (1-4 eggs) in a small saucepan. Cover them with just enough water and begin heating the pot on high heat (uncovered).
Keep an eye on your pot until it gets to a nice rolling boil.
As soon as it reaches a nice constant boil, turn off the heat and cover with a lid. Still leave it on the same burner you just cooked with though.
Let everything cool down for about 8-10 minutes. When your timer is up, remove your egg and place it in a bowl of cold water.
Roll it around in there a few times for about 3 minutes, or until they are cool to the touch. This helps make the egg easy to peel, and also stops the egg from cooking any further inside the shell. Go ahead and peel off that shell now.
If everything went accordingly you will be left with a beautiful, flawless egg. Now go ahead and cut it in half, and crack a little black pepper and sea salt over it (or however you like your eggs). Enjoy!
The shells are great for composting!
