Dutch Oven Chicken

This delicious chicken recipe is a staple in my home.

I bust it out when I’m making chicken for other meals, like my chicken noodle soup, chicken and dumplings, alfredo, ACP, carbonara, etc. I haven’t been disappointed yet.

I only use bone-in chicken, because the scraps make amazing bone broth. I use that broth in a bunch of stuff too. It is super easy, and tastes way better than any stock you can buy in a store.

Back to the chicken..

Start by preheating your Dutch oven in the oven at 350°. Once it’s ready, carefully place 3-4 pounds of chicken quarters down in there, season it nicely with your favorite seasonings. I usually just stick with cracked black pepper, garlic powder, and a little sea salt.

Cover the Dutch oven with a lid and pop it in the oven for 1 hour and 30 mins. You’ll know when it’s almost done because your kitchen will smell amazing. But always make sure the internal temperature of the chicken is at least 165° before you dig in.

You can also use a 3-4 pound whole chicken.

There are so many variations of this recipe you can do. Cut up veggies and lay in there, stuff the chicken, whatever you desire. I mainly use this to shred up into other recipes though.

Regardless, it always comes out tender, juicy, and delicious!
