It seems like yesterday I built this site and posted my first recipe.
Over the years Cast Iron Cookery has evolved in so many ways. One thing that will never change is my passion being at the forefront of everything I create!
Cast Iron Cookery has grown organically over the years, through word of mouth mostly. I like to think my SEO is helping some. But if you’re reading this, thank you for your support of my dream!
I strive to create delicious handcrafted recipes based on tradition. Constantly researching food from other cultures has elevated my cooking to the next level. Every recipe tells a store if you listen close enough. I take everything I learn and then add my own flavor to it. The methods, the ingredients, the gathering of friends and family to enjoy every bite with, that is tradition.
I had to craft a new recipe journal. My old one disappeared somewhere.. with a lot of secrets in it. Some recipes were lost, but many new ones came about. I guess it’s all part of the journey.
I am at a great place in my life to be able to pour myself back into my cooking again. I am creating other content as well. My YouTube channel RexThunderman is my other creative outlet. My plans for that are gaming, cooking, homesteading, digital art, just everything I love to create. So if you’re ever over that way, give me a like and subscribe.
I’m working to make this year a big one for sure. As I grow my content, I am also gearing up to start my Master’s degree in the fall for elementary education. I’m a teacher on the side. I have a summer gig lined up as a lead instructor at a tech camp for kids (teachers don’t get paid in the summer). I’m very excited for that adventure and how I can grow from it. My daughter Maci is growing fast, so I balance the single dad life as well.
She is and always will be my best buddy and the most important thing in my world. I love her more than anything, and she’s been here beside me since the very beginning.
One thing I’ve learned as I grow in life, it’s all about balance.
